Clearance Procedures & Formalities
ALL YACHTS MUST REGISTER ON WWW.SAILCLEAR.COM PRIOR TO ARRIVAL TO CARRIACOU.

All vessels and crew seeking clearance into Grenada via Carriacou must do so at Tyrell Bay Carriacou. If a clearance is made in Grenada it will NOT be necessary to clear into Carriacou again upon arrival.
Grenada, Carriacou & Petit Martinique are all one country and one jurisdiction.
Petit Martinique is not an official port of entry
Official Ports of Entry on mainland Grenada during Covid times is : Port Louis Marina, St George's Grenada.
Vessels should Anchor with Q Flag and the courtesy flag of Grenada from the starboard spreader of main mast while clearance formalities are carried out.
Grenada uses the Red Right Returning Rule, which means red buoys mark the starboard side when approaching.
Ship’s Documents to be prepared are:
4 copies of the crew list, passports for all the crew inc visas & immigration cards, Ships stores/health declaration, and port clearance from last port of call.
Customs and immigration offices at marine bases are generally open Mon-Fri 0800-1600 and Weekends and Holidays 0900-1400
Overtime is charged outside office hours.
When departing, you may clear out during normal working hours but must leave within 24 hours. It is advisable to attend the office by 15:00 in order to complete formalities before the end of the working day.
Passport must be valid for 6 months beyond your stay.
A visa is not required from citizens of the US, Canada, UK, British Commonwealth, Caribbean countries, most European countries, South Korea, and Japan.
All others require visas, although a visa-free stay may be granted on arrival if continuing on to another destination within 14 days.
Carriacou is a wonderful place for visiting yachts and as such Immigration usually grants a 3 month stay in the the first instance. The first 3 months are free, after which you need to get an extension with a monthly fee of ECD $75 per month.
Crew arriving by plane and leaving by boat, are required to pay an Embarkation Tax of $EC20 per person, to the Immigration office at the time of departure. On departure of the yacht, this fee is also levied on each person aboard who is not ‘bone fida’ crew - passengers and those not involved in the operation of the yacht. It is applied at the discretion of the Immigration Officer.
Arriving by boat and departing by plane costs EC$50 per person (EC$25 if under 12 y.o.) payable at the airport.
Monthly Cruising Permit Fee for yachts
Less than 40 ft = EC$50 Over 40 ft and less than 60 ft = EC$75 Over 60 ft and less than 80 ft = EC$100 Over 80 ft = EC$150
The period your vessel is on the hard and hauled out at our boatyard, is EXEMPT from the monthly cruising permit fees. The Customs officer may request a letter from the yard confirming this.Tyrell Bay Marina Carriacou will gladly supply you with any supporting literature Customs may request that supports your claim.
Firearms must be declared to Customs and will be locked ashore in custody until departure. On certain vessels with the correct facilities they can be sealed and locked aboard in a proper locker.
Importing Yacht Spares Duty Free
If you wish to import boat parts/spares without paying import duty then you need to complete a “Permit to Ship Stores (C14)” form, at your local Customs office. The Customs officer will stamp and authorize it. It is compulsory then to employ a Customs Broker to prepare your entry on your behalf. A customs Service Charge of 2.5% will apply + Customs Brokerage fees.
Flying into and out of Carriacou
When flying into Grenada or into Carriacou from another country, you might be asked to produce a return ticket. Be sure to have a copy of your vessel documentation and clearance papers to show at the airport you have a boat here. If you are crew joining a vessel, have a letter from the Captain stating that you will be joining the vessel.
It is advised to take your vessel documents and clearance papers with you when flying in and out.
If you have crew(s) leaving the boat and flying out of Grenada, you must visit the Immigration Office prior to the day of departure, with your ships papers and relevant passports, and immigration will “sign off” remove the person(s) from your boats crew list.
Procedure for Pets
Normally shipboard animals are routinely allowed entry without any hassles.
Importation of animals must be done through application to the Ministry of Agriculture
Such an application must be accompanied by a copy of a certificate from the last place of residence certifying that the animal has been vaccinated against diseases and is free from illnesses and infections.

Restrictions
* Those who do not respect our environment are not welcome! Be advised that Tyrell Bay Marina Carriacou is adjacent to the magnificent, Sandy Island Oyster Bed Marine Park Area (SIOBMPA) and as such we pride ourselves on keeping the environment as pristine as humanly possible. Tyrell Bay Marina Carriacou will not tolerate any activities from visiting yachts that may harm the integrity of our pristine environment within or near our marina our boatyard or the waters of the Marine Park Area, such as the pumping of dirty bilges, fuel, oil or toxic waste into our waters. We take the integrity of our environment very seriously …offenders will be expelled!
* It is prohibited to pump bilge, waste and direct flush marine toilets into the water, within 200 metres of the beaches.
* What you do on your own boat is up to you, however be aware, Public nudity in Carriacou, Petit Martinique & Grenada is against the law!
* Lobster and spear fishing is prohibited to non Grenadians.
* Lobster should only be bought in season 1st September to 30th April
* Having No Fun whilst staying on our beautiful island of Carriacou is not permitted !
